Job Title: Animal Care Tech/Custodian
General Description: Primary responsibilities will include performing routine duties associated with animal care in a shelter setting, as well as maintaining the facility and supporting the county with custodial services at other building.
Duties include but not limited to:
Preparing food and feeding animal.
Maintaining sanitary conditions and cleanliness of shelter.
Observing animal conditions and behavior.
Maintaining a professional demeanor with the public.
Supervising work of volunteers.
Walking and grooming animals.
Maintaining adequate documentation.
Adhering to all state and local procedures.
Functioning as a team member with shelter staff and ACOs.
Performing any other shelter related duties as required.
Performing custodial duties at other county facilities.
All other duties as assigned.
Physical requirement: This position is physically demanding requiring standing, kneeling, bending, walking, climbing and lifting which can be in excess of 75 lbs. Position also requires interaction with customers and includes talking, writing and the ability to manipulate a keyboard.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1 year of animal care experience and 1 year of facility maintenance/custodial experience.
Qualifications: High school diploma/equivalent. State Certification training for animal care must be completed within the first year of work.
Schedule Varies: May include day, evening and weekend work.
