Position: General Maintenance
The Giles County Board of Supervisors is currently seeking candidates for a Fulltime Maintenance Employee within Giles County.
Position Overview: Responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks. Performance of building maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g. carpentry; plumbing electrical; heating, ventilation, etc.); Perform general cleaning. Perform other tasks as assigned.
Essential Functions: Maintenance Employee Duties include but not limited to: Perform basic electrical maintenance repair and improvements. Perform basic plumbing maintenance, repair and improvements. Performs painting, carpentry and minor masonry work. Work also entails, office upgrades and space rearrangement. Position requires the use of hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks etc. Work duties also require Inspections of buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair making notes and recommendations using a pre‐established check sheet. Also required to order parts and maintain required documents.
Additional Duties Include: Cleaning rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, parking lots, and other work areas. Position also requires assisting with snow removal for building entrances. Performs other work related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
1. High School Diploma or Equivalent
2. Two Plus years working experience in facility maintenance or related field.
3. Basic understanding and experience in electrical, plumbing and carpentry. HVAC experience VAC a plus.
