EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR

The Giles County Board of Supervisors is now accepting applications for full-time Emergency Management Coordinator.  Primary responsibilities will include responding to emergency incidents; performing difficult technical and hazardous emergency response and routine administrative work; administering the Giles County Emergency Operations Plan and related work as required; upgrading the Emergency Operations Plan; preparing hazard analysis for the county; soliciting, evaluating and submitting both operating and capital budget requests for emergency services to county administrator; assisting with procurement of emergency services equipment purchased through county funds; conducting emergency response planning including conducting emergency exercises; submitting and administering public safety grants; planning and maintaining communications equipment for fire, rescue, Public Service Authority and other general county government use, as well as licensing with the Federal Communications Commission for such equipment.

 

Minimum qualifications are: Associate’s degree in Emergency Management or equivalent experience in fire, EMS, and/or law enforcement (public safety).  Employee will be required to complete several related courses after hired.
