HELP WANTED: Full-time Animal Control Officer

HELP WANTED: The Giles County Board of Supervisors is now accepting applications for a full- time Animal Control Officer. Primary responsibilities are to enforce all state and local laws pertaining to the welfare and control of all animals in the County of Giles, including the investigation of all animal complaints and the resolution of cases through voluntary compliance and/or legal compliance, effectively working with attorneys, law enforcement personnel, veterinarians, and others to resolve cases of animal abuse and neglect; ensuring animals are captured and transported as humanely as possible and prompt veterinary care is rendered, if appropriate.


Required qualifications: Candidates must be 21years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, have a valid driver’s license and good driving record, and the ability to lift 75 pounds.


Preferred qualifications: One year of animal husbandry, animal control, or related animal care experience; experience in law enforcement is desirable. Working conditions/compensation: Some evening and weekend hours are required with an on-call rotation, and the position is considered essential personnel. Pay is commensurate with experience.
