HELP WANTED: Shelter Manager/Animal Care Technician


The Giles County Board of Supervisors is now accepting applications for a Shelter
Manager/Animal Care Technician.

Primary responsibilities will include performing routine duties associated with animal care in a shelter setting, preparing food and feeding animals, maintaining sanitary conditions of shelter, observing animal conditions and behavior, scheduling of all shelter staff, coordinating volunteer programs, maintaining adequate documentation, transportation of animals as needed, and other related duties as required. The manager will adhere to all state and local procedures. Some evening and weekend hours are required, and the position is considered essential personnel.


Minimum qualifications are: high school diploma/equivalent, the ability to lift 75 pounds, valid driver’s license, good driving record, and adequate computer skills. Preferred qualifications are: one year of animal husbandry or related animal care experience or two years of animal husbandry experience in an animal shelter facility. Education may substitute for experience.
