Pearisburg Junior Woman’s Club

We thought we’d take a moment to also celebrate and share about some of the civic groups in Giles County. As you explore and act as a tourist in your own backyard this month, perhaps you’d like to join a group that is improving and supporting communities through engagement. Each Sunday we will share a different group- but please know there are many organizations, groups, and chapters that are keeping Giles County a wonderful place to live and raise a family and enjoy the great outdoors.

Today we bring you the Pearisburg Junior Woman’s Club. They meet at the Pearisburg Community Center monthly [third Monday at 7pm], but have a variety of fun and enthusiastic women involved in community projects throughout the year. Their primary mission, according to their website, is “to provide assistance to those in need; to aid in community and world improvements and projects; and to strengthen its membership by encouraging volunteerism in club and civic events, educating members about public, state and worldwide issues, and by promoting self-growth to each member.”

Today they are celebrating their 75^th anniversary! A volunteer appreciation and fundraiser event is planned for Sunday afternoon in Pearisburg. Locally you may have seen some of their projects that included adopting families for Christmas; Relay- for-Life; child abuse prevention month; National Library Week; National Police Week; National Nurse’s Week; support of armed forces troops; Thanksgiving with S. A. Robinson residents; elm tree; teacher of the month; hospital smile bags; spring clean-up day; Earth Day; breakfast with Santa; and home for the holidays. Membership is open to any woman in Giles County and they host a New Member Social in August.
