Job Summary
The Trainer position delivers weatherization and building science training to agencies that provide Department of Energy (DOE) weatherization assistance programs. Weekly courses are taught to train professionals in the implementation of weatherization projects in classroom, lab, and field settings. With duties of a professional nature, this position reviews, trains, and proctors tests on the DOE weatherization assistance program, which provides energy audits and energy efficient upgrades. This Trainer position is ideal for those who are energized in a learning environment, willing to travel nationally, have an engaging presence, and find it rewarding to train and transplant new knowledge to adult learners.
Applicants who may be inexperienced in building science but willing to learn will receive onsite training at our Christiansburg, VA Training Center two or more times a month for 6 to 8 months. Working hours may vary with project loads, but customary business hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm, with a one-hour lunch break. Overnight and daytime travel is required, as well as occasional evening and weekend hours. Salary ranges from $56,000 to $72,000 depending skills and experience.
