Wheatland EcoPark awarded $3.3 million in Virginia Business Ready Sites Program
Wheatland EcoPark has been awarded $3.3 million in Virginia Business Ready Sites Program (VBRSP) development grants, administered by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership. The Governor has announced a total of $40 million has been awarded to 13 VBRSP development grants across the Commonwealth.
The grant will help ensure the site is project-ready — a critical edge in attracting high-impact projects and new jobs to Giles County.
VBRSP partners with localities, utilities, and state agencies to fund infrastructure improvements that build operations-ready sites for employers and manufacturers ready to expand across Virginia. Investments like these are why Virginia earned the No. 2 ranking in the nation for infrastructure by CNBC.
“We are very grateful that Delegate Ballard, Senator Hackworth, Governor Youngkin, and VEDP recognize that economic development has to be a partnership and they have ensured State investments in our region. Local governments simply can no longer individually afford the cost of providing sites and buildings. In today’s rapidly changing economic landscape, business and industry cannot wait for the long and arduous permitting and construction process. For States and Counties to be viable locations for economic growth, they must have finished product available. Delegate Ballard has worked with us throughout this process to see that we were positioned for success.” -Mr. Chris McKlarney, County Administrator, Giles County, Virginia
